Lisa Danay Wallace, Partner, WeirFoulds LLP

Lisa is a Partner in the Information Technology and Intellectual Property Group. She advises clients on technology procurement, commercial transactions, and regulatory compliance, with a focus on drafting and negotiating complex agreements and providing strategic guidance to both customers and vendors at all stages of the technology relationship - whether entering, maintaining, or exiting the arrangement. Lisa helps clients navigate the legal and commercial challenges of deploying emerging technologies like artificial intelligence. She advises on AI product development, risk allocation, governance frameworks, use of third-party data, and responsible deployment. She also supports businesses integrating AI tools - balancing innovation with regulatory, contractual, and ethical considerations.

Lisa represents both buyers and sellers of technology products and services, including SaaS providers, software developers, fintech companies, and enterprises procuring mission-critical technology. She helps tech companies structure deals that meet customer expectations while maximizing value and managing risk. An active member of the legal and technology communities, Lisa serves on the executive and Board of the Canadian Technology Law Association (CAN-TECH), is a member of the CAN TECH Women in Tech committee and Co-Chairs WeirFoulds Women Committee. Jamie is currently General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Solink, a Goldman Sachs, OMERS Ventures, Valor Equity Partners and Wesley Clover backed business with an industry-changing video monitoring system, offering brick-and-mortar businesses a smart way to manage operations, security, and loss prevention.

Prior to Solink, for 5 years Jamie led the legal function at Wattpad, the world’s largest reading and writing platform, navigating the complex journey from start up to scale up through to one of the most successful acquisitions ($840m CAD) in Canadian tech history. Wattpad was a VC backed startup (Khosla Ventures, Union Square Ventures, OMERS Ventures, Tencent Holdings, Raine Ventures) that was acquired in 2021 by Naver Corp. of South Korea, and currently operates as a subsidiary of Naver and WEBTOON. Jamie led a team of lawyers and experts who manage the complex legal, IP, privacy, HR and policy issues of a 90+ million person user generated content platform.

Prior to Wattpad Jamie worked in media at Facet4 producing television series for domestic and international networks, and telecom at Public Mobile (backed by OMERS Ventures, Cartesian Capital and Thomvest Seed Capital) and acquired by TELUS ($250m CAD). Jamie started his career at the Canadian broadcast and telecom regulator, the CRTC. Jamie has been involved in many of the largest private market TMT deals in Canada, both working in-house and in government.
